Dancing Three On One

Ok, so maybe JVD in Breakin' > Tonya doin' the Billy Ocean?

sintalentos - breaks, vol. 4

Was trying to stay ahead of the game by having the summer blend ready for this weekend. That's not happening, so I dug out another old blend. More breaks for your soggy bbq weekend:

The Salsoul Orchestra Magic Journey - Runaway (Feat. Loleatta Holloway)
MFSB - Love Is The Message (Danny Krivit Re-Edit)
First Choice - Let No Man Put Asunder (Shep Pettibone 1983 Mix)
Dr. Buzzard's Original Savannah Band - Cherchez La Femme
Marvin Gaye - Got to Give It Up (Pt. 1)
Teddy Pendergrass - Only You
Rick James - Give It To Me Baby
Michael Jackson - Get On The Floor (Holy Ghost! Edit)
Anita Ward - Ring My Bell (12'' Mix)
Cerrone - Supernature (Original Full Mix)
Donna Summer - I Feel Love (Original 12" Mix)
Ripple - The Beat Goes On

Also picked up the new Dave Tompkins joint on the history of the vocoder, How To Wreck A Nice Beach. Just cracked the first few pages and it's already a blast. From Bond-ish tool of espionage to calling out the freaks on the dancefloor? A mighty instrument, indeed. Admittedly, I still need to finish my bday present.

O.G. Infernal Affairs?

Dancing @ 0:21 > Tonya doing "Caribbean Queen" ("He also does the Moonwalk, but I don't know how to do that yet"). But only by a slim margin

sintalentos - freestyle

I was really keen on freestyle when I first moved to the beast, perhaps b/c of home sickness. Of course, the City is freestyle Mecca and '80s babies from the boroughs and uptown can kick a healthy amount of knowledge. So maybe I was content to just talk (record) shop with Dom, b/c I never bothered to play out a lot of these records. Then Guro asked for some Johnny O to help celebrate his niece's 16th. So, I was happy to oblige.

Sandée - Notice Me (Clivilles & Cole Club Vocal)
Noel - Silent Morning (12" Club)
Shannon - Let The Music Play
Lisa Lisa & Cult Jam - I Wonder If I Take You Home
The Cover Girls - Show Me (The Nest Mix)
India - Bailando En El Fuego (Spanish Mix)
Nayobe - No Te Vayas (Please Don't Go)
Pajama Party - Yo No Sé (Vocal)
Exposé - Point Of No Return (Ultimix)
Debbie Deb - Look Out Weekend
Debbie Deb - When I Hear Music
Cynthia & Johnny O - Dreamboy/Dreamgirl (Radio Freestyle Mix)
Johnny O - Fantasy Girl
Lil' Suzy - Take Me In Your Arms
Jaya - If You Leave Me Now (Radio Mix)
Stevie B - I Wanna Be The One (Radio Mix)
Freestyle - It's Automatic
Yazoo - Don't Go
Stacey Q - Two Of Hearts
JJ Fad - Supersonic
DJ Trident - ONE MORE TRY REMIX

BTW, a few new pieces on Prefix:

Sharon Jones & The Dap-Kings: I Learned The Hard Way
Mike Patton: Mondo Cane
Very Be Careful: Escape Room

Do You Love Me?

sintalentos - spring 2010

J-Live: The Way That I Rhyme
Aloe Blacc: I Need A Dollar
Broken Bells: Vaporize
Gorillaz: Stylo (Feat. Bobby Womack, Mos Def)
Big Boi: Shutterbug
M.I.A.: Born Free
E-40: The Server
Beck: Guns In The Sky
Paul Weller: Find The Torch
She & Him: In The Sun
Javelin: Mossy Woodland
BLK JKS: ZOL!
Holy Ghost!: Say My Name
Blaqstarr: Oh My Darlin'
Sonora: Memoria
DãM-FunK: Things That Dreams Are Made Of
Treasure Fingers: What Am I Supposed To Do
A-Trak: Trizzy Turnt Up
Sleigh Bells: Tell 'Em
Yeasayer: O.N.E.
LCD Soundsystem: Home

Spring bears to mind all the fruitful aspects of possibility. Hearts flutter with new flirtations. Ears perk up to the sound of a new beat. And the first washes of heat welcome back an old friend (and source of much-needed Vitamin D).

Pierrot le fou is in many regards a fall-winter movie: a journey to a destructive fate. But falling in and out of love never felt so good! Davos can't seem to let go, but Belmondo's sailing down the Styx in stupidly cool style by clip's end.

Oh, and enjoy the choonage. All joints are from 2010 and meant for your seasonal frolicking.

Living For The Smidge

Cover of Talking Heads' French 7" of "Psycho Killer," via Discogs. This has nothing to do with anything

Been back to writing for a couple weeks now, so I've got a few pieces up at Prefix:

Nels Cline Singers: Initiate
The Hold Steady: Heaven Is Whenever
Laura Marling: I Speak Because I Can
Poirier: Running High
Various: Kitsuné Maison
Very Be Careful: Escape Room

And please check out the artist pages, as we've been putting up a lot of content recently. For my part, I've done close to 50 bios of everyone's favorite: cheerleader, internet sensation (from this past winter), singer-rapper who may or may not have been a criminal mastermind and "proprietor of [her] destiny."

Also back to work with Dirtystylus on setting up sintalentos dot com, so look for that in a minute.

Per the recent tweet, I'll post a couple freestyle blends I did for Guro's niece's sweet 16. Also am almost finished with the follow-up to the summer and winter blends.

And holler at me:
